October Meeting (held Nov. 1, 2004) - Terry Harris shared a lecture on his entire collection of money maker machines. All 51 of them, and the history behind them. Thanks Terry, it was very interesting and entertaining. Terry gave everyone a "magical deck" of cards, and Conjurer's Court presented Terry with a handcrafted, pewter Haunted Key.
Note: President Greg Gidney was presented (from the membership) with an engraved, Gold Pen and Pencil set, a gift for his continued service to the club.

Samuel Patrick Smith
began a full-time career of entertaining children over 20 years ago. Several
thousand performances later, he wrote two books on working with children, BIG
LAUGHS FOR LITTLE PEOPLE and KIDDIE PATTER AND LITTLE FEATS. His seven other
books, including ON STAGE: BRINGING OUT THE BETTER PERFORMER IN YOU, focus on
showmanship and marketing. As the founder of SPS Publications and spsmagic.com,
Sammy has produced over 50 books, videos, and props for children's entertainers.
He has lectured and performed throughou the United States and Canada, but his
favorite audience is in Eustis, Florida, where he lives iwth his wife and two
sons.
Selina Frederick
is Art and Marketing Director for SPS Publications and the
manager of SPS Publications, Canada. She has helped create numerous kid-show
props which are distributed worldwide, including Book Worm, Tail Spin, What's My
Job, Big Red Nose, and Lucy Strikes Gold -- all examples of her appealing style
of art for children's audiences. Her career background includes training in
human resources and extensive performing as her clown character, Joey. She is a
delightful and dynamic public speaker. Selina lives in Ontario, Canada with her
husband and two children.

An evening of classic effects were presented ... some wonderful classic magic.
April 28, 2003 Balloons and Things that go Bang!
So, I will be glad to look after the
balloon sculptures part of this , and I
even know a few magic tricks with balloons .
For those that are interested in pursuing this art form a bit further, I will
make available a book of lecture notes called "How To Become A Balloonatic"
that I wrote for. a Clowns Canada convention in Toronto I taught at a few years
ago. These are the "take home instructions" for the beginner balloon
artist.
For those that wish to participate, I will teach everyone the basic balloon
animal. This basic animal can become a dog, giraffe, rabbit, dinosaur etc.,
simply by changing the size of the ears, legs, neck, or tail.
I will bring along a good supply of balloons

This is a condensed version of the lecture which Jeff has been asked to present at the Canadian Association of Magicians conference this coming spring. Jeff will focus on methods of bringing audience members to the stage without having to ask them first. (After all... if you don't ask... they can't say "NO"!) The demonstrations provided should be of great interest to anyone who has had trouble with audience participation in the past. Not to mention the fact that it should be a lot of fun too!
